“In Nepal, children with disability are the most vulnerable, neglected victims of inadequate protection and care.

There is a lack of awareness on the causes and cures of disability and people still believe in the superstition that explains the birth of a child with a disability as being the result of a past-life sin, or curse. This has further marginalized the group and isolated the disabled from the community.  They are rarely provided rehabilitative care and are denied opportunity to education and to equal participation in the community.  It is estimated that only one percent of the disabled children receive any form of rehabilitation."
